Mountain biking in the Natal Midlands
Howick Mountain Biking is a specialist mountain bike "club" formed for those who are passionate about mountain biking. We are located in Howick in the KwaZulu Natal Midlands in South Africa and do most of our riding in the plantations between Howick and the Karkloof. Technical single track is where we are at and to this end we have laid out about 30km of tracks varying from gentle, tree and fern lined paths to attention getting sections with names like Suicide Slide, The Face, Rushalot and Pines. We don't have a newsletter but contact club members via e-mail about club activities. We are scheduling regular club rides
and although we enjoy riding single track ,we cater for all types of riders.
What we do is have a hell of a lot of fun, ride hard and simply revel in mountain biking!
Our Annual Race Day
The oldest race on the KZN mountain bike calender and one not to be missed. Each year in June we hold a mountain bike race to end all mountain bike races. The race is broken down into 3 events - the 40km Classic, the 20km intermediate and the 5km kiddies ride. Don't let the 40km distance fool you. Last year's winning time was just under 2 hours or an average speed of about 20 kmh!
